Oh, Frenchies do get cold in the fall! These stylish neck warmers were made by a very special friend of mine from FBRN.
Drum roll, please.....
This is typical of Luna. She's going for the camera strap!
Artsy picture of Hugo wearing his collar scarf. It has a bone on it! So cute!!!
Hugo is a poser.
I liked this one.
She did such a wonderful job. I'm so lucky, I know I'm the only woman in Virginia with neck scarves for my doggehs!
Luna is wondering when all of the posing will be over so she can wrestle with Hugo. Look at how pretty that rose is, and then she has a ruffle around the bottom, so pretty. There's a hole for her lead. Attention to detail, love it!
My sweet girl. She had something in her mouth that I had to fish out. What was it? I don't know.
There's my Honey, Andrew, holding my new Honey, Luna. She's wearing a color by OPI (for Sephora) called Lagoono-Beach. We loved it, I only painted her front nails so there was no pedicure involved. As it was, she was pretty anxious to go play with Hugo, her best friend. However, as you know, the polish has to dry so I did that with a dryer on the low setting. If anyone knows a better way, please tell, tell.
I love that big pink bow but I couldn't leave it on her. She started to try to gnaw at the pearls. Hello, choking hazard! So, off it went. Photo op only! She loves those dinosuars too, by the way.
Ahh, the love in his eyes just kills me. He loves her so much, Hugo too, of course.
Elena wanted to know what their size difference was, this one isn't the best way to show the difference but of course, that's Luna on the right. Mr. French is on the left.
Yes, Miss E. Mr. French likes the porcupine too! Ha ha.
I'm in the midst of working on my own online business, a .com. It's pretty exciting, it'll take some time but I'm looking forward to it. I'll have a special spot for FBRN in which 100% off all of the proceeds will benefit our resuces, like Luna.
We adopted a Frenchie from FBRN! We made it (they refer to us as her 'forever home')! Shannon and her family fostered her and we're forever grateful. We met them in Columbus to pick her up. She's a very feminine Frenchie and a real heartbreaker. Hugo is in love with her, as we all are. She has huge black soulful eyes. Not brown but black, they look like pools of black water, so pretty.
Wearing a new crystal necklace....
Yes, of course, I had to do it. She loves to pose for me!
This one was my very favorite from our photo session and will go in a picture frame. Look at those eyes! What a sweet little minx!
It's Princess Luna from the Province of France.
'
Loved this one.....
Cute, cute, cute. Couldn't be cuter or sweeter!
She has the softest fur in the world. Shannon took such great care of her....
Shannon took these in Columbus. Sort of backwards but there you have it. Here we are, meeting Stellaluna for the fist time. Naturally, we were both very smitten.
I love to snuggle puppies. Especially sweet smelling ones like her!
There I go, sniffing her again. Andrew is in love with her. He seems to think she's 'his' girl. Bwah ha ha ha.....
There we are, saying good bye and on our way to a shee shee dog store! We had to doll her up. I highly recommend the toy called 'Big Max' (bought that for Hugo but she likes it too) and then any collar made by Bella Bean.....
Loved the one called 'toadstool'. Here's the link to Bella Bean's site. We bought 'birds on a branch' in cherry blossom. It's so pretty....
So, we had a play date a couple of days ago (I'll explain later on in the week) with a gorgeous little minx of a French Bulldog named Daisy. All of us were completely smitten!
My poor little Mr. French. He's been deprived of canine friendship and we all feel so horrible about it. Just look at these pictures!
He was so excited (on his back, no less! Ahh, good boy!), it was really something just to get a picture of his face or hers and she's a beauty, that Daisy. I loved her too.
Darling collar. Pink leather with silver doggy bones-adorable!
Back off, we want to play!
"Beautiful Daisy... are you getting tired, my lovely? Come, let's drink some water together."
Ahhh, it must be love.
Yes, I refilled the water bowl! They were tuckering each other out!
There's Andrew with Daisy. He loved her too, all of us did, it was sad to see her go.
So nice to meet Tara! She was wonderful and I hope she comes back sometime on a less formal (LOL) visit! Oh, and we'll babysit Daisy anytime!
On another, note, here's my FBRN needy Frenchman of the day.
His name is Rhone.
This is Rhone's story, which I've copied and pasted from FBRN. When I find out who wrote about his journey from the road to the loving arms of FBRN, I'll be sure to give her props.
We have so many brilliant minds at FBRN and the writers deserve so much credit. Rebecca from FBRN's writing staff wrote this piece about him.
Here's Rhone's story....
Every dog has its own path to FBRN, some longer than others. Rhone is one of those special dogs that has been welcomed to FBRN by the loving hands of not four or five or even six, but at least a dozen volunteers who all made sacrifices to bring this boy to safety.
Rhone came from a shelter. They have entrusted us with his care, and we have promised them (and Rhone) that he will get the love and support he needs in his rehabilitation from stray dog to cherished pet. Rhone was picked up by the shelter when he was found wandering, and has one of the worst cases of demodectic mange we have ever seen. He doesn’t have much hair, and because of the mange is quite smelly. Rhone seems to be able to make out shapes, but is mostly blind.
We couldn't let this boy down, despite the many miles involved and the high price of gas as he moved from shelter to foster home. One volunteer rearranged her work schedule to make the six-hour drive (and six hours back) for one leg of the trip, and another volunteer interrupted her own vacation planning when she heard the call for transport help. Rhone's journey to FBRN could fill a small book with many more acts of kindness such as these. And despite Rhone’s challenges, and the stress of travel and change, Rhone welcomed each volunteer with kisses and licking.
Rhone’s past will probably always be a mystery, but that’s ok, because we know his future is secure. Right now, Rhone is warm, safe, and sleeping in a soft bed. Rhone is vision-impaired, but is adapting quickly to his new environment using his smell, touch, and those worn Frenchie ears. He hears his foster family’s gentle voices, smells the home-cooked meals that his foster mom is cooking to help boost his overworked immune system, and seems to like the hands massaging his dry and flaky skin in his medicated baths.
No one of FBRN's volunteers could have accomplished the first part of Rhone’s journey on their own. We hope that Rhone will have many supporters to help with his care, as his condition requires numerous visits to the vet. Please don’t think for a second that a small donation won’t make a difference—when we all help, the results will be life-changing for this near-blind, mangy boy. And, we are pretty sure that Rhone will send kisses your way if you do!
If you'd like to help the little feller out, here's his link. Just click on his picture, please and thanks for helping and if you don't, just think of him and send some good vibes his way. He's had a rough life up until now. I'm so glad he's with FBRN.
This gorgeous piece of art (click on the link to look at her beautiful quilt) was donated to FBRN by Susan, mom of FBRN Grad Finnegan. Susan has won several awards for her quilts and this one took second place in last year’s Twin Rivers, NC Quilting Guild show as an original design in the hand quilting/appliqué category. Luxuriously soft, it is made of 100% cotton. It measures 36” by 36”. Displayed on a bed, couch or wall it is a keepsake to treasure.
Raffle tickets are $5.00 each, or five tickets for $20.00. Raffle ends May 1st, 2009 at 9pm EDT. Winning number will be drawn using the Random Number Generator at www.random.org.
We'll be buying tickets for the raffle. Wish us luck!
Jack won first place in his age group for this coloring job.
Then Noah won the grand prize in his age group for this one.
It was for the coloring contest I talked about in an earlier post. Anyway, I'm so very proud of the boys and proud that we're volunteers for such a wonderful organization, the French Bulldog Rescue Network.
The Easter Basket Raffle is going on now. Here's some borrowed artwork, I hope they don't mind!
Here's the link to the raffle. Good luck! The tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20 and just wait until you see the baskets, I think we did a great job with them, especially the people that wil be heading off to the PO to mail those off to the winner! OMG. In case you're wondering, this was my group's basket! It doth rocketh! All of them do, though. I was impressed with all of them and I hope they bring in a ton of money for our rescues, they need help.
Please vote for our Frenchie, KC! We've won before, we can win again! Thanks, in advance, I have such good friends and such a wonderful family. I know how lucky I am, believe me. I never take my life for granted.
I've been working on some Spring projects, namely a new Easter wreath I've been cross-stitching. It's turning out nicely. It's cute. Once it's done, I'll post it. It would have been done by now but the store I go to had run out of the aida cloth (two specific colors) I needed to finish the last two critters, so I had to wait a bit.
Here's the graph. Yes, sometimes I love corny. These are going on a wreath.
I'm reading 'The Last Wife of Henry VIII' by Carolly Erickson, one of my favorite authors. She wrote one of my favorite books called 'The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette'.
I am chomping at the bit for the 3rd series of 'The Tudors' to start on Showtime! I love that program, the season premiere starts on April 5th at 9 pm (that's a Sunday).
I miss Anne Boleyn's character, I truly enjoyed Natalie Dormer in this part. She's so beautiful!
Jonathan Rhys Meyers says all the right things, eh (around 5:02)? I love his attitude.
Season 3 previews.... Let me know if you like the show as much as I do!
Oh, almost forgot. I was telling my friend about this movie. It's called 'Public Enemies', I believe it's coming out this summer. Johnny Depp and Christian Bale star in the film.
Here's a little background on John Dillinger. I've also included the sexed-up version from Wikipedia. Enter at your own risk, they're known for inaccuracies and a bit of gossip. I'd stick with the FBI's version for the historical facts, naturally.
It's a little dark but you can see it. They do that so peeps can't right click and copy/save. I love FBRN.
I'm over to the right there, next to that sad story about Rachel. Sometimes I think this world is completely rotten. I'll keep plugging away, and try to help them raise more money.
I'm working on a hat for Rib. He has a crazy hat day tomorrow. We have a fedora with a skull and crossbones that we found at Spencer's of all places. When I think 'crazy hats' I think Spencer's.
I hadn't been in there for so long, I'd forgotten about their migraine inducing strobe lights and freaky sex toys. OMG. Like the boys needed to see that! Geez. After I saw the fake butt you put on over your pants (why do people think that's funny?) I figured I needed to get the boys motored out of there as quickly as possible. Funny stuff, Spencer's. Jack called 'Hot Topic' the emo store. I learn new words all of the time now. Emo. Hmm. Short for emotional. Here's the meaning of the word from the 'Urban Dictionary'.
Emo-Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic teens who don't smile.... Sort of a lame explanation but you get the gist of it.
After we're done decorating the big word hat, I'll get a picture of RIb wearing it, emo style. I'm going to make some painted canvas dolls and start stockpiling stuff to put in my Etsy store. I'll be making things for FBRN's future Etsy store as well. We're planning on getting that up and running by April so I need to get to work. I've been lazy this past month, creatively. Lazy meaning, that I'm cross-stitching (a stocking) and watching 'The Tudors' on DVD in my spare time. I should be working on things to sell instead. Priorities, Khris!
Awesome series! I'm totally addicted. You can rent them on Netflix.
Speaking of which, Jack hasn't brought home one B in math lately. All A's. Noah is going to be on the Honor Roll, he had all A's and B's so they're back on track.
I made Matzo Ball soup last night and the boys went nuts over it. Who'd a thunk? I knew I liked it but didn't count on them liking it as much as I did.
I'm taking them to see a movie today. Don't know what yet but it'll be fun.
Weekend Update..... Here's Noah's hat for their 'big word' crazy hat day. Hope that made sense! Anyway, his word is 'osteology' (the scientific study of bones). He said he did not want to look emo, after he read my post, so he smiled for me.
Andre is now up for voting! We won the last time and I sure hope we'll win again! If you have the time, please click on the link to help FBRN win some much needed money for our rescues.
Thank you, I appreciate your help more than you know!
My favorite foster Mom's Frenchie is up for votes this week on Bissell's Pet Photo Contest. So far, FBRN is #3 and that's a good sign! When you voted the last time (Care2), FBRN won $500! Pretty cool, eh?
Please visit www.frenchbulldogrescuenetwork.org and check out their coloring contest! Two pieces of my artwork are up over there and it's pretty exciting!
Hugo has a warm, loving home. Some Frenchies aren't so lucky and they need your help.
Please help the French Bulldog Rescue Network. It takes only a minute and it's a real opportunity for FBRN to get a much needed $10,000. This year, especially the last few months, there are more people surrendering their dogs because they can't pay for the special medical care they need and some are choosing between feeding their kids or the dog . . . . FBRN had built a cushion over the last several years that has dipped drastically low with all of the dogs they're caring for now.
Please vote for French Bulldog Rescue Network in Glen Allen, VA in the "America's Favorite Animal Shelter: A New Year of Hope for Animals" contest at Care2.com. Join us in helping French Bulldog Rescue Network win the $10,000 grand prize by voting today. Thanks!
All of these French Bulldog Rescues need a loving home. This is Raisin and she's on the available page over at www.frenchbulldogrescue.org.
I tried to make all of the backs of my ornaments pretty too. Of course, I didn't take any of the pictures of the Frenchie rescues you see here, they were taken by their Foster parents-the credit goes to them.
I didn't neglect the sides of the ornaments either. All of them were painted and have glitter on them. Here's one example but most were painted white then I sprinkled Martha's 'Snow Glitter' over the wet paint.
These 2 Frenchie lovers are Brulee and Truffle-they're a pair and won't be separated.
Here's the back of their ornament. I went over the K and Company reindeer with some stuff I can't remember at the moment. It's not quite a senior moment but it's close. I used Stickles too, love it.
Nina lives in Pennsylvania.
Ringo from Georgia. He looks a lot like Hugo to me, handsome devil....
This is Queenie from Pennsylvania, gorgeous! I have one more but it turned out sooo blurry. I'll take a picture and put it up tomorrow.
I'll keep you posted when the tree goes up for bidding. I hope it brings in a lot of dough ray me for those vet bills and everything else they need.
Here are two of my finished Thanksgiving (cross-stitched) projects that I need to make into pillows. I'll get to it some year. Not now though....
Pilgrimmy phrase, eh? Ye might be wondering why these are wrinkled. I would tell ye then that one of my boys pitched them off the back of my chair after I ironed them. It's a Hardy Boys mystery yet to be solved. At any rate, I'll be thankful that I have such a rockin' iron.
This one took me forever, I made it a couple of years ago. I never want to see linen again. I'm all about the squares now until I get one of those Dazor lamps. I'm blind as a bat as it is.
I'm a proud member of the French Bulldog Rescue Network! I made it, as of yesterday, and I simply couldn't be happier about it. I'm working on a Christmas card for them right now.
Hopefully, they'll like it!
Here's a picture of Hugo from a little while ago, next to our tree skirt. Frenchies get cold when the temperature drops so he appreciates a second layer before we go outside. Really. : )
100% of the proceeds of my artwork are donated to the French Bulldog Rescue Network. I do what I can to help these sweet, devoted little critters.
They need your help too. Please visit www.frenchbulldogrescuenetwork.org. If you can't donate money, there are so many other things you can do to help our resuces.... Thank you, in advance. : )
